Well, now what?

If you were interested in buying an Asterion and a House, then don't worry! It's not too late!  Please fill out this form to express your interest in one of these sculptures. I will be trying to make more of these this summer, when the weather is warm enough for me to work outside. This form will help me figure out what poses, glaze color, and types of Houses to prioritize. I can't promise that I will be able to make exactly what you're asking for, but I will be trying my best! Pricing may be adjusted in the future depending on materials and other factors.

At this time, I am not taking preorders. This is not my full-time job and the time and money I can allocate to these projects is totally dependent on other factors in my life. I would rather be able to list products I have fully complete and ready to go than accept money for a pre-order that I might have to refund if circumstances change. I'm going to try to keep making these as long as there is interest in them! I will leave the info below for future sales.

Thank you all for your support and know that I'm very grateful!

What does gilded vs. not gilded look like?

The gilding is applied in the form of a thin gold wax. The first three minotaurs on the top row in this picture are not gilded; the rest have had gilding applied. There is no surcharge for gilding; I will do it at no extra cost.

Asterion Waiting, with his head tucked down into his lap; Asterion Stargazer, looking upwards; and Houses, which are the little arched shelf displays.

Each piece is numbered individually. The photo galleries below contain all the pieces that were available on February 8.

Houses

How big is Asterion/the Houses?

Asterion is a little over 2 inches tall; a small House is about 3.5 inches tall and a large House is about 4.5 inches. For a sense of scale, here are photos with a hand (mine) and a ruler. In other words: he's little!

Why are they so expensive?

Each Asterion represents a full day of slipcasting time; about 4 hours trimming and sculpting the blank figure; another half an hour of glaze application, and two glaze firings! Making the molds themselves required special plaster and several days of work and adjustment; making the slip to cast also required special ingredients. The Houses are built entirely by hand, no molds used. And that's even including material cost, packaging, and shipping, plus time spent on social media promotion, photography, and the business/website end of things!

I'm doing my best to make these affordable for as many people as I can, because the joy of art is in sharing it.
